Professional artists widely agree that skin prep accounts for the majority of a base's longevity. When working in high relative humidity, traditional heavy moisturizers containing mineral oils or heavy shea butter create a slippery film that prevents foundation from adhering.

The Rule of Molecular Density

Effective prep in tropical climates relies on low-molecular-weight humectants like multi-weight hyaluronic acid, beta-glucan, and glycerin. These ingredients draw hydration into epidermal cells without leaving surface residue.

Equally critical is the wait-time protocol: allowing sixty to ninety seconds between each skincare step permits water content to evaporate and active ingredients to bind, preventing the common issue of foundation pilling.
